Dato' Hj. Abdul Jalil b. Abdul Majid was born on March 14th, 1945 in Simpang Empat, Bukit Mertajam. Being the first in the family, the son of the late KTM pensioner got his early education at SRK Jalan Baru, Bukit Mertajam before pursuing at Bukit Mertajam High School until MCE. He then continued his education at Mara University of Technology and University of London, UK, specializing in Town & Regional Planning. Married to YM Raja Datin Rabiatun Aduah 28 years ago, he is blessed with 4 sons and two daughters.
Civil Servant career record of Dato' Hj. Abdul Jalil started after he graduated when he was appointed as Town & Regional Planning Officer in 1974, and he served throughtout Malaysia. At his age of 28, he was the youngest among all ever appointed to be the Director of Perak Town & Regional Planning Department in 1982. His last position as a govermment servant was Acting Sectretary for the Ipoh City Council before he took his early retirement in 1991 to be a businessman. |
Dato' Hj. Abdul Jalil is now Permatang Pauh UMNO Division Chief, as well as Penang State Assemblyman for N12 Penanti seat. He is also acting for the N11 Permatang Pasir seat, to assist the people in that constituency. As a State Assemblyman, he also holds many appointed state and federal positions such as Chairman for Permatang Pauh Parliament's Majlis Kebajikan Dan Permbangunan Masyarakat (MAYANG)", Chairman for Qaryah Seberang Perai Tengah Mosques, Chairman for Pematang Pauh Parliament's KEMAS's Activities, Chairman for Penang Structural Planning Research Committee , and Vice-Chairman for Penang State Meeting Council (MMK) for Tourism and State Library. He is also a member in various Penang MMK.
Dato' Hj. Abdul Jalil is also active in associations and clubs. Among those are, Vice-President for Town & Regional Planning Officer's Association (until 1996), Corporate Member for Malaysian Institue of Planners (MIP), Member of Environment Management & Research Association Malaysia, Member of Eastern Regional Organization for Planning And Housing (Europe) and President for Ipoh Orchid Association. In sports, he is the Vice-President for Perak Hockey Association (until 2002), Vice-President for Malaysia Hockey Association and Kinta Refion Soccer Association.
As a State Assemblyman and actively involved in politics, he puts his priority in giving the best services to people in welfare and education. Dato' Hj. Abdul Jalil b. Abdul Majid is very committed in education that he was elected as the Chairman for BM High School's PIBG until now. He has taken steps to materialize a lot of welfare programs to assist the needy and continues to do so on a weekly basis.
His slogan, "Here To Serve", is a commitment for all walks of lives, especially for those in need, and among his vision is to ensure that the youth would be an asset to the nation. In preparing them, Dato' Hj. Abdul Jalil has taken lead to embark various trainings and courses so as to produce a better quality youth for nation's needs. |
